Robert R. “Buddy” McClanahan was Riley’s grandfather. Buddy passed away in his sleep on October 17, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 90 years old.
Few people know it, but Riley was named in honor of his grandfather. Riley’s full name is Robert Riley McClanahan, making him Robert R. McClanahan, as well, though they had different middle names. Riley will do his best to carry on his grandfather’s name.
Memorials for Buddy/RRM may be made via PayPal.
Buddy’s eulogy by his son is here.

You know, it seems that every time I turn around, another non-profit is asking me to choose them as my Amazon Smile charity – my kids’ school, my church, you name it.
Amazon Smile is a wonderful program where Amazon donates a half-percent of qualifying purchases to the non-profit of your choice. And Riley’s Warriors has been a beneficiary of the program. To date, we’ve received over $500 in contributions.
If you are not using Amazon Smile when you shop Amazon, then valuable dollars that could be supporting a cause you believe in are not being used. So, get signed up.
It’s simple: just go to smile.amazon.com and start shopping. The first time you go there, you’ll be asked to choose a non-profit to support. That’s where you type in R-I-L-E-Y-‘-S W-A-R-R-I-O-R-S. 😁 Actually, that’s where you search for some non-profit you care about: a school, a church, a ministry, whatever. If you happen to choose Riley’s Warriors, then we’ll be greatly appreciative.
Just remember to always start your Amazon shopping at smile.amazon.com and some non-profit will thank you.
We’ve set the date for the 2019 Riley’s Warriors Golf Classic! The event will be held on May 6th. Based on your input, we booked The Country Club of Arkansas in Maumelle (same location as 2017). So please go ahead and save the date in your calendars and make plans to join us!
More information to come.
As many of you know, we skipped the Riley’s Warriors Golf Classic in 2018. Things in our family life were extraordinarily crazy and we just couldn’t devote the time necessary to make the golf tournament a success. Yet, we heard from many of our supporters that they really missed our tournament last year.
Rest assured, we’ve already begun the planning for the 2019 event. We don’t have a date set just yet, but we’ll be working on that very soon.
To help with planning, we’d like to hear from our golfers about their preferences as far as the venue for the event. To that end, we’ve created this two-question survey. We promise it will take less than a minute of your time.
We look forward to your response to the survey – and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event.
On this #GivingTuesday, you can certainly help Riley’s Warriors by making a donation. We’re just a small non-profit with a small niche in the world of special needs families. Our major effort these days is the printing and distribution of HOPE Notebooks. Every donation – big or small – helps us provide them for more families. Thanks!
It’s amazing to see the impact that the HOPE Notebook has on families dealing with special needs situations. We’ve heard from so many who have told us that it’s been a lifesaver for them.
Someone from our community posted about it on a national e-mail list and we are receiving requests from all across the country. It is such a blessing to be able to help others in this way.
If you’ve donated to Riley’s Warriors, or played in or sponsored our golf tournament, then you have a part in this effort. Thanks so much for your generosity.
